About Us
In the soulful streets of 1970s Baltimore, a remarkable R&B group called Crosswind first found their harmony. These talented musicians mastered both worlds – breathing fresh life into classic covers while creating their own magic with originals like "We Can Work It Out," "Fire (It's Getting Hot)," "No One But You," and their latest groove, "Fooling Around." They had a special gift for blending traditional R&B with contemporary sounds, creating something entirely their own.
Life wrote an unexpected verse in 2016 when the group's reunion plans were cut short by the heartbreaking loss of Mr. Fredrick "Bo" Gamble. But just as the best songs have their quiet moments before rising again, Crosswind found its second verse in early 2021. That's when Kenneth Robinson and his son Davante joined original member Joseph Wiggins to write the group's next chapter. Young Davante, who first started singing at age five, now brings fresh energy to the group at 20. His father beams with pride: "I've watched him grow from a seven-year-old kid with a dream to the youngest member of this legendary group."
Over the years, Crosswind has shared stages with R&B royalty. They've harmonized with Billy Brown of Ray Goodman & Brown, swapped stories with Carlos "Billy" Herndon of The Whatnauts, and kept time with Earl Young of The Trammps. Their path has crossed with legendary performers like Joe Herndon, former bass singer for The Temptations, Wendell Sawyer of the original Blue Magic, and William "Smoke" Howard of The Ebonys.
The group's connection to the community runs deep, including memorable performances at theme cookouts held at Andrews Air Force Base over six years, where they first met the team from 50+ The Second Half Magazine. These gatherings became a testament to how music brings people together, creating memories that last long after the final note fades.
